Artist Questions

What are your pronouns?

My pronouns are they/them.

Where are you located?

I am in Kansas City, MO, USA.

What are your disabilities?

Remember: disabled people do NOT have to share their diagnosis, symptoms, or anything else unless they personally feel like it. Unless you are our specific healthcare provider, your opinions and advice are unasked for and not needed.

How many people are on your team?

Just me! My website, socials, emails, newsletters, art, art photography, branding, marketing, shipping, studio, gallery et al are all managed and maintained by me. Your patronage and purchases support me in so many ways! You can purchase prints and other home products from my Society6 storefront.

Gallery Questions

How do I submit artwork for Gallery Athanor?

There are three (3) open calls announced throughout the year via my Instagram account and my monthly newsletter. Calls are open for three (3) full weeks. During that time, you can fill out a submission form. Artists then will be contacted two (2) full weeks after the call closes with details either way.

I have accessibility needs. How should I contact you to express them?

Email me! If I am able, I will accommodate those needs. My space is already designed with neurodivergence and fat comfortability in mind. That doesn't mean that I can't do better in other areas. I'm proficient in what I know, but can always make the gallery space work with your personal accessibility needs.

Will you ever host solo shows?

The goal of Gallery Athanor is to showcase what an art collection can be and how that can look living inside of a home - multiple artists of multiple disciplines and mediums hanging out together to create a whole aesthetic or vibe. Solo shows may happen in the future, but for now, I am focused on group exhibitions.

How long are exhibitions and what are visiting hours?

Exhibitions are six (6) weekends long. Sign up for my newsletter for exhibition announcements and updates. Hours are Saturdays and Sundays noon to 4pm by appointment. The booking link will be provided near exhibition time and available across all my platforms.

I really want to purchase a piece or two from an exhibition, but I don't have that kind of money upfront. Do you have any payment options?

Yes! Payment plans are available. Gallery Athanor partners with Art Money, a soft credit company for art collectors. Take your artwork home immediately and enjoy paying over time for your new pieces. 10 payments over 10 months with zero-interest financing that starts at $1,000, or $100/month. Learn more about their services here. For payment plans under that amount, we'll chat and come up with a plan that works for all parties involved.

What is an Athanor? How do you pronounce it?

An Athanor (ath-a-nor) is a special type of kiln, oven, or furnace that is legendary for its self-feeding function. It supposedly provided a uniform and steady heat over long periods of time and was used to transform base metals into gold. It is portrayed as a strange little tower with a bubbler flask on top of it. A real-life athanor has not been found in the historical record and is often used as a metaphor for a spiritual journey of purification. Fun fact: the symbol in my logo is the alchemic icon for gold!

Shop Questions

Where did your storefront go?

At this time, I am unable to continue the financial upkeep of having my own digital storefront. See a piece you like either on my website or socials? Email me directly with interest!

How are paintings and prints shipped?

All painting orders are tracked via the United States Postal Service (USPS). I do not ship internationally.

How long does it take to ship art out?

Orders are estimated to ship within 3 weeks of purchase. Most of them will ship before them.

How long does it take to arrive after shipment?

According to USPS, there is an average of 3-5 business days (up to 1 full week) within the United States. I currently do not ship internationally, though Society6 does! Orders can be delayed due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. If you never receive your order from me directly, email me. If you don't get something from Society6, contact their customer service.

What's your refund/return policy?

Due to the unique and original nature of canvas art, I currently do not offer refunds or returns. Lost or excessively damaged items rarely happen, but if it does, please email me with photographic proof if this happens to you. I cannot refund your purchase - however, I can send you a painting of equal or near-equal value as a replacement. You'll just have to cover shipping.

How long does it take to get an email response?

I typically respond to all emails on Mondays during office hours. If there is something urgent, I respond much quicker.

Can I print your work for myself?

No. If you would like a copy of my art, please purchase a print from Society6.
